The US Post Office is the Amtrak of our children’s generation. It has outlived its usefulness but, because of its sheer size, its momentum will carry it forward another hundred years. There are union jobs to protect but more than that there is the nostalgia of the mailman. I’ve been writing about is for at least a decade. See link above.
Lot’s of us have been spending a lot more time at home since COVID-19 (How this name came to be) and many people are cleaning out their stuff. Which is good in its own right and it has created an opportunity for me. I send postcards and I told a few people that because of COVID restrictions my stock of cards was running low. Suddenly people doing COVID Cleanouts were finding cards that they bought on trips but never sent and giving them to me. Some are forty or fifty years old. This is a loaves and fishes story.
My recommendation about most of your stuff is give it away. You don’t need old projects and promises hanging around giving you low level guilty feeling for not completing them. If you have postcards give them to me. I’ll put them in circulation for you. Your kids don’t want your stuff.
The card is from an extremely clever PostCrossing member. I took the photo of it using Google’s PhotoScan App.

Around July 4 we were in Lyon for the Women’s World Cup Football. And our friends George and Michelle F. had told us about the Food Center in Lyon that they had loved. Nurit and I visited on our third day there and I took some very nice pictures. On July 12 back in Phoenix I showed off my pictures and another friend Mike M. secretly took this picture and produced it as a postcard and then she printed me a hundred of them. What a great gift. I am blessed. Continue reading “Best Gift Ever”
I got this post card from Germany via Postcrossing. I think is a anthropomorphized, cross-dressing, beer, sexual innuendo mashup joke. It is at least a double entendre. Anyway it made me laugh and creeped me out a little bit.
