Seeds

“Don’t judge each day by the harvest you reap but by the seeds that you plant.”

R.L. Stevenson

Photo is of an ad postcard I received last month. Robert Willan has almost no presence on the internet and if you’re interested you will have to research it yourself.

Adjusting

“The pessimist complains about the wind; the optimist expects it to change;

the realist adjusts the sails.”

William Arthur Ward

The photo was taken in Chesapeake Bay in July of 2022 from aboard Adventure captained by Gene B. I think the boat is a reproduction of a 19th century Oyster Dragger. It is now used in the tourist business.

Edibles

“Anything is edible if you’re brave enough.”

Variously Attributed (I heard it from Anthony R.)

In one day on the Illinois River we counted 19 Bald Eagles. It is more proof that we are treating the environment much better than our parents and grandparents. And yet feeling worse about it.

Map Reading

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

“The joy of map reading has been swallowed whole into the maw of GPS technology.”

Simon Winchester in Knowing What We Know

Whatever happened to Gas Station Maps or in LA the Thomas Guide? On the other hand we can always find where we need to be with out ever knowing where we are going.

Change is….

Happy Christmas

“Christmas isn’t a season. It’s a feeling”

Edna Ferber

Be kind and agreeable. In this holiday season you can’t go far wrong by doing the opposite of what Donald Trump would do.

Photo was taken a few years ago in Phoenix. My dream car decorated.

Progress

Beach in Tel Aviv

“The speed of our forward motion is directly related to the velocity of the people around us.”

The photo is of the beautiful beach in Tel Aviv.

I was going to write more about Israel and the horror that Hamas brought to southern Israel but by the time you read this the situation will have changed. I hope that wise leaders from both sides can prevail and that the Palestinian Arabs can finally accept a compromise that allows Israel to peacefully exist and ttheir people to share the worlds prosperity.

“Peace on earth, goodwill to all.”
