Robert Morris

“I think it is the duty of a good citizen to follow when he cannot lead”.

Robert Morris, born in Scotland and raised in Philadelphia, he went into trade and by 1775 was the “richest man in America.” He was a friend of George Washington and is often called “the financier of the American Revolution.” He was one of only two people who signed the Declaration of Independence, the Articles of Confederation and the Constitution. After the Constitution was ratified he became a Senator from Pennsylvania.
