- Spend some time making your background reflect you.
- Take some practice runs. See who looks good on Zoom and emulate them.
- Don’t eat on camera. Even at a Zoom cocktail party.
- Place your camera at eye level. Don’t be the jowly one.
- Don’t sit too close or your nose will dominate the screen
- Mute yourself when there are distractions on your end.
- Practice smiling.
- Watch the screen. Everybody can tell if your distracted by a YouTube cat video
- Dress for the occasion. You never get a second chance to make a first impression.
- Have a pithy introductory remark ready. You can look up pithy.
- Address people by name. Most of them have them on their screens if not build a chart.
