Spend some time making your background reflect you.
Take some practice runs. See who looks good on Zoom and emulate them.
Don’t eat on camera. Even at a Zoom cocktail party.
Place your camera at eye level. Don’t be the jowly one.
Don’t sit too close or your nose will dominate the screen
Mute yourself when there are distractions on your end.
Practice smiling.
Watch the screen. Everybody can tell if your distracted by a YouTube cat video
Dress for the occasion. You never get a second chance to make a first impression.
Have a pithy introductory remark ready. You can look up pithy.
Address people by name. Most of them have them on their screens if not build a chart.
