On July 4 it is a good idea to reflect on how far we have come as a country toward the ideals set in our founding documents. There is still far to go but progress has been made and hope for the future should triumph over anger about the failures of the past. Do you need some evidence that this is true? There are millions of people waiting in line to try to become Americans. Is that true anywhere else? We are not perfect but we are the best available choice.
