Celebrating Failure

In Sweden there is a Museum of Failure. It makes perfect sense. If you want to increase the likelihood that people will try new things you have to accept, even celebrate, the failures that will inevitably go along with the attempts.

At Brandon we said: “There are no bad ideas. There are only good ideas and great ideas. Good ideas are the ones you try that don’t work. Great ideas are the ones you try that do work. But there are no bad ideas.”

I’ve often said that I want someone to say at my funeral: “He learned from his mistakes, and he learned a lot.” With appropriate emphasis of course.

Thanks to Josie Haskins for sending me this link. Josie and I met a decade or so ago on a walking tour and have stayed in touch via postcard ever since.
