In 2017 I advocated removing this statue of Judge Roger Taney from the Capital building in Maryland. I haven’t changed my mind. But the recent flurry of “tear down this or that statue. Gave me a business idea. Buy some land in Texas or Arkansas and start the Museum of Fallen Heroes. Here is a short term but helpful business idea. Women’s clothing stores are closed but the need for retail therapy goes on. How about doing those trunk sale things for individuals. The salesperson would bring a selection of clothing to your home for a flat fee that would be discounted off the first items bought. In fact the Nordstrom’s sale people could be doing this right now.

We spent the weekend in southeastern Arizona and stayed at the Casa de San Pedro. One of the main activities there is bird watching because there are a lot of birds. The high point for us was seeing the Sandhill Cranes returning from their morning feed. Lots of people Come to the area around Bisbee but there really isn’t a lot to do. Which makes it perfect for micro tourism. I bought a fleece at the gift shop and they gave me some free postcards.
Micro Tourism will be a growing and profitable part of the tourism business for the next few decades. A micro tourism location or tour is narrowly focused it does not accommodate tour buses. It allows reservations but uses prices to keep numbers low so that walk in guests can often get in. It always has a gift shop.
