What is a favicon?  It is that little logo on the left side of the tabs on your browser.  Look up the screen and you’ll see one.  This blog  https://simonburrow.com// now has one:

Start with a picture that has high contrast and is extremely uncomplicated:

Then go to the web site http://www.favicon.cc/ and click on the import image button.

Follow the instructions and it will get made the correct size:
