“I must study politics and war that my sons may have liberty to study mathematics and philosophy”. 

John Adams was part of the Massachusetts delegation to the Continental Congress and a signer of the Declaration of Independence. He was the second President of the United States and was a fierce political foe of Thomas Jefferson. My brief summary cannot begin to give you any idea of how important to the founding Adams was.
