Some green books being used as decorator items, on there way to the dust bin of history.
This photo is from the very elegant hotel where we stayed in Bar Harbor, Maine. It was nice to see books repurposed (ie saved) for a few years but it is an indicator. Books are nearing end of life. Books are not at end of life like buggy whips, stenographers and dial phones but they are heading that direction. Ebooks and YouTube are more useful for disseminating knowledge. Computer/smart phone games are better for entertaining. Pixels are cheaper, cleaner and more environmentally correct than printed material.
I make the additional argument that young people today may not need to be able to read to be productive members of society. Reading will go the way of hunting, spinning and reaping. “I’ll have my podcast call your podcast.”
