Words Getting More Common: Portal

Portal

For most of my life “portals” were a science fiction mechanism for getting from one state to another. They were ways to rip through the space time continuum. Now I have to have a portal to communicate with my doctors office. It creeps me out even though I know that portal is a word on the move. How are we coping?

Noun: An electronic door manned by distrustful algorithms.

Example: “I’ll have my portal call your portal about the patient.”
