Apogee

Noun: Original meaning: The farthest or highest point, particularly of an orbit. Evolved (slang) meaning: The most successful, popular or powerful event or thing.

Example one: “At its apogee the moon is 253,000 miles from the earth.”

Example two: “Leon Uris’s fame was at its apogee after he published The Source.”
