Pete the Fifth Plecostomus died of the cold sometime in the last few weeks. He had lived in the pond for a year doing yeomans work eating algae and scaring small children. When we noticed he was dead Lillian and I scooped him respectfully out of the pond and took this beautiful picture for his memorial service. The cold that killed him had also petrified him. He looked as beautiful in death as in life.
He was interred in the dumpster in a short moving ceremony on Saturday January 3, 2008.

Simon — I concur: that is one ugly fish. In my family, we flushed dead fish down the toilet, but then they were only goldfish… We killed them by the fish bowl full. Once in a while my father would bury them in his rose garden for fertilizer.
