We almost didn’t go this year.

But at the last minute Missy, the dog, and I walked down and watched a dozen or so floats and their supporting bands and equestrian units finish the route.

It was a beautiful day and the crowds were bigger than usual.

Later on some of the neighbors were complaining about the traffic and congestion caused by the parade and the subsequent float viewing. I told them that I feel lucky that I live where such an amazing and creative thing happens every year. I said “it’s like living near the Trevi Fountain in Rome but just for a few days each year.”
