Naming The Holiday Festival

Detritus outside a bar in Tempe on New Years Day

The week between Christmas and New Year needs a name. And each of the days needs a name also. The day after Christmas is not Wednesday. Most people are not doing their Wednesday stuff. It falls into that festive nether time. It is really more like a Saturday. But we can’t have seven Saturdays. So the days in the festive time need new names.

Lilli B pointed out that the names need to be profitable for someone so that there’s an incentive for them to get started. How about Beer Day? (from Coors) or Taco Day (from Taco Bell)

I was thinking that they should be named after people famous as party animals. Mae Day (May West), Disney Day (Walt Disney) or Fields Day (WC Fields). To be a little more contemporary Paris Day (Paris Hilton) Kard Day (Kardashians) or Jon Day (Jon Stewart)

Here is another idea that combines both the profit motive and the party theme. Party Cities. The days could have names like Paris, Cancun, Las Vegas, Rio or Singapore. The UN commission on the Right to Party could sell the naming rights and use the money to throw parties for the underprivileged.

Winter Break might be the right name for the entire period. Although Festivus, or Party Week might work. Pour a glass of scotch and let some creativity flow.
