In Europe the EU has high subsidies for rapeseed.  So farmers grow a lot of it.  Rapeseed is used to make canola oil.  There is a massive surplus of canola oil in Europe.  But the fields are beautiful in the spring.

In the USA we could feel superior to the Europeans about this waste of the taxpayers money except that we have ethanol, a fuel made from corn and tax dollars.  Governments everywhere have the urge to help their friends.
