There is a transgender person at my synagogue and we are accommodating him in places like the bathrooms and the pronouns. This is the proper thing to do in our world today. If a person chooses to be thought of as a different gender than their birth gender we should respect that and accommodate them as best we can. As a society we can afford it and it shows that we care about each person as a individual.
No I’m not transgender but I am transable. As we all know some people are able and others are disabled. And applying the same logic that we apply to gender issues between the two there must be transable. In my case I am able but feel disabled. So in order to be at ease in the future I’d like to be treated as a disabled person. And in the same way that we accommodate transgender people I’d like society to accommodate my transabledness. I’d like to start with a handicapped parking placard. Thank you for caring.

will your new status allow the use of the handicap parking when you hike Mt Whiney?
Gene: There are handicapped spots at Whitney Portal and I feel I should be able (or disable) to use one.
