In Santa Fe what I have always called a speed bump is called a speed hump. We suspect that this is a local or geographic difference like “soda” vs “pop”. But we need more data points. Send a message below telling us whether there are bumps or humps in your neighborhood.

We have speed bumps here, but rarely are there signs announcing them. They are generally painted bright yellow to get motorists to notice them.

Apparently except for Santa Fe nowhere else in the country calls them speed humps. I had quite a few responses on Facebook.
