Nurit and I went to San Antonio, Texas a few weeks ago for a screening of Beyond Borders at UTSA (University of Texas San Antonio) and had a chance to look around a bit.
The Alamo
It is a very nice small city that has done a very good job taking its best assets: The Alamo and the flood control on the river through town and making them into tourist attractions and centers of civic pride.
Inside the Alamo
It is no longer politically correct to say “Remember the Alamo!” Since the wars with Mexico are long over and Mexican-Americans are a huge part of the population.
Free admission to the Alamo
Except for the bugs and the humidity I could live here.
River Walk
The flood control dam that made it possible.
cute boats
Historic homes
and water everywhere
It reminded me of Rome a bit because of the use of water features. And of Fresno a bit because of the humidity and the size of the town.
