Life is Good (registered?)

“Life is Good!” has been the official slogan of this blog since its inception in January 2006. We had “Simon Says: Life is Good!” on the masthead for two years and now it is a section of the static content. The first blog entry with the expression “Life is Good” was in May 2006 about a SF Giants game with Brock and Cathy. Now I have learned that a company has registered a trademark Life is Good. They are a casual clothing company out of the Boston and seem to have good distribution: Chicks, Run with Us etc.

My questions are: Can you register a common phrase as a trademark? Or are they registering the logo, font and color? Can I still use the expression Life is Good? Will Jake the founder of Life is good lawyer me up? BTW: life is still good. Maybe I could register BTW or CRS.
