This morning while packing for the dive trip I found a note from last years trip that said “underwater laser pointer!” It is a good idea. I looked on Leisure Pro (the best place to buy dive stuff) and found out that one exists but according to the reviews it is just not very good.

A good pointer would be very useful underwater. You could flash it at people to get their attention and then point at the very cool thing you wanted to share. The bad reviews didn’t make it clear whether the problem was design or execution. It might be that laser light dissipates to easily in water which is a design problem or that this model is not powerful enough an execution problem.

I may take along my laser pointer on this trip and try it sealed in a dry bag.
