L’Shanah Tovah

Happy New Year!

Jewish New Year that is.

“love” in Hebrew

5772 to be exact.  It starts tonight at sundown with, of course, a festive meal followed by services.

L’Shanah Tovah means “for a good year.”

L’Shanah Tovah is a shortening of “L’shanah tovah tikatev v’taihatem” and it means “May you be inscribed and sealed for a good year.”

pronunciation guide: shanah tovah, like hanna with a sh and tovah with a soft t rhymes with shanah.

And finally a link to a very Happy New Year greeting sent to me by one of my friends from the Prager Israel trip Gil C.

  1. To my Jewish friends from the Prager tour–have a blessed holy days period with family and friends. I will continually pray for the Peace of Jerusalem though from some of the signs I saw in the arab districts it does not look promising. Hope springs eternal

  2. I absolutely love this and have listened to it several times! What a wonderful time we had in Israel and what insights were gained! Let us all pray for a better resolution in that part of the world…. It doesn’t seem promising, unfortunately….

  3. simon, just got around to listening. I love it! Have to figure out how to download it to my I Phone music.
