Every year in my very small vegetable garden I grow tomatoes, zucchini, basil and a row of sunflowers. I get the sunflower seeds from the flowers in the previous years crop with the largest heads. The experiment has been going on for about a decade and so far I haven’t noticed a trend toward larger heads. Maybe after another decade.
