Photo of the day from Western Kentucky.
On Thursday I went to Wickliffe Mounds State Park near the confluence of the Ohio and Mississippi Rivers. The rivers are overflowing their banks, including this park, but it is a “slow flood” not a “flash flood” so the people are remarkably sanguine. Even the discussion of which levees to break to save the big towns are not too acrimonious. All of the roads except the one I took from Paducah to Wickliffe were closed because they were flooded but nobody was evacuating and there weren’t even many gawkers.
