The Weed of Madness

In California we get to vote on Marijuana Decriminalization in November.  Decriminalizing drugs is a good libertarian cause and I’ve always supported it.  If you agree that we should try a new approach to controlling drugs go to Yes on Prop 19 and register.

In the 1980’s when I was first collecting books I put together a small collection of books about marijuana.  I’ve kept about 20 of the books and now finally they are germane:

This book from the 1930’s had it wrong

I’m trying to figure out what the decriminalization opponents will say:

  • “I like drug wars.”
  • “Prohibition worked so well.”
  • “I don’t want to change my mind.”
  • “It is a federal crime so any state law will be moot.”

In future posts I will:

  • address these objections and any others that come to light.
  • Post where the candidates for office stand on the issue.
  • Give you some great quotes from my marijuana book collection.

Peace.  Aah the memories.

  1. I think that California is a pace-setting state. If only gay marriage could be passed there for good.
