I received this email from my friend Gary Osheroff. You can do your good deed for the day by voting for him in this New Yorker Magazine cartoon contest.
Nothing bad will happen, Gary may get his 15 minutes of fame and then be obligated to help all of us in the future.
Dear Almost Everybody I Know;
New Yorker Magazine runs a weekly cartoon caption contest which I’ve been entering for about a year. I’m happy to say that my submission this week was chosen as one of three finalists.
There are no golf excursions or money for the winner — the grand prize is a framed print of the captioned cartoon signed by the artist. Winning is purely a matter of pride, and by sending this email I’ve proven that I’m not too proud to grovel for votes.
I would appreciate your also forwarding this to anybody else you know who may have a minute to spare. I’ve read that past winners of this contest had “viral” email campaigns.
The link below should take you to the voting page. Even if you think one of the other entries is better, it would still be appropriate to vote for mine with a clear conscience.
Thanks,
Gary
