A Million Dollar Idea
I hate sprinklers. They need constant adjustment and repair and they still over-water. What I have invented is a garden drone system for a suburban home that waters the grass, observes what need watering and fertilizes when necessary. It will not be cheap but sprinkler systems are not cheap. It will be reliable and very cool.
The drone will be programed and operated from an app on your smart phone. It will automatically return to a docking station to recharge the battery and the water tank. It will precisely water and fertilize your garden as needed.
The target market will be affluent people in the suburbs who are having sprinkler system issues and are willing to be early adapters. It costs two to four thousand dollars to install a traditional sprinkler system and then your gardener will mow off one of the sprinkler heads. The target price is about five thousand dollars. Most of the buyers will already own a Tesla and would buy a drone if they found a need for one.
