How would a not so smart person get in a position of power, anyway? A fluke and that person would either need to smarten up fast or be smart enough to hire people smarter!
Good point. Being smart is not a required attribute of politicians. Charm, luck, timing and many other attributes play a part. Lots of not smart people have become president. Jimmy Carter for instance. And then they can make bad decisions.
