The Founders: George Wythe

Wythe was a Virginia delegate to the Constitutional Convention. He was an abolitionist at a time when abolition was a taboo in Virginia. At the end of the Revolutionary War he freed his slaves. There are lots of other interesting stories about George Wythe in Wikipedia

Another example of a community leader from that tumultuous time who is now mostly forgotten but was critically important to creating the critical mass to make the revolution happen.
