Expectations

“Old age is far away and then it comes faster than you expect.”

I had three reminders that I am getting old this summer even though last summer I was still young. It happened faster than I expected. First one of my long time hiking buddies, Mike C. died. He was a quiet gentle man who laughed at my jokes. Second I was not able to complete the hike to the top of Humphrey’s Peak because I have slowed down too much. And finally on our trip to Yosemite I took a fall on some boulders and narrowly avoided being badly injured. My balance is starting to go.

We are starting to look at Continuing Care Communities.

The photo is, I think, from Lilli. It is sap oozing out of a cut in a fruit tree. It is the first step in making amber.
