Unreasonable Searches and Seizures

I’m not a constitutional scholar. But it seems to me that if federal agents go into a public park and start randomly detaining people it violates the Fourth Amendment’s stricture against “unreasonable searches and seizures.” This happened in McArthur Park in LA over July 4th weekend.

Asking American Citizens to prove they are an American Citizen sounds a little bit fascist. Hopefully this will be sorted out by the courts. Rounding up the undocumented is a bad application of bad law.

The illustration is one I commissioned many years ago. I used it and others on my Rational Immigration Website when I was more active in trying to change minds about immigration. Circa 2008. Now I’m just a jaded old man letting you know what I think.

Perhaps old but not jaded. When law enforcement asks for papers it is not a little fascist it is very fascist and very un-American. “Everywhere immigrants have enriched and strengthened the fabric of American life.” by JF Kennedy. It’s just too bad our current leaders don’t share his vision of our country.
