“People are generally too much attached to their native countries to leave it and dissolve all their connections, unless they are driven to it by necessity.”
Alexander Hamilton
From Hamilton by Ron Chernow
Photo is of the back of a bench painted with a mini-mural. It is down at the end of one of the corridors on the second floor of the New Mexico State Capital.
Hamilton is a little out of touch on this one. Modern technology means one doesn’t have to “dissolve all their connections.” Planes and email and Whatsap mean you can stay in touch. So the world seems smaller and many moves are not from necessity but for opportunity.
