Why do people think that it is egregious that a woman chose to have 14 children? They don’t. What they are angry about is that they have to pay for her bad behavior. Obviously part of her decision to have 14 children was because she knew that our society would take care of them.
But lets get some perspective here. The same people who are aghast over Octomom don’t fret about Medicare. Even though Medicare is roughly the same thing as Octomom. Medicare takes much more money from working people than Octomom and the gang of 14 ever will and gives it to old people. Old people who in many cases still have houses cars and assets. If there is free money people will move towards it and away from work and thrift. Social Security, Welfare, Food Stamps and all types of social welfare programs that tax money from some to give it to others have the same effect. Octomom is a visible sign of how corrupting a social welfare system can be but as long as there is a social welfare system there will be people like Octomom. And as the system gets more generous there will be more people like her. Octomom should be the poster girl for the Libertarians.

Congratulations on your efforts with the Mt Wilson Toll road! Persistence and courage to saw this through!
I am a NSFS volunteer and work as a member of the elite “Bear Canyon Crew” (why elite?…it sounds good). I have also worked Millard Canyon along the Dawn mine Trail from Cheney Trail.
It is a good thing when we show concern / care for our local mountains, this home and we are proud of it.
Socio-Political Comment:
What this country needs right now are people like you and I who are Leaders. Not a bunch of whining cowards that think that voting for party line candidates ALWAYS produces the desired results. In fact they are unequivocally the root cause of all our problems social and economic.
The absolute insanity of voting into office “crooks who point fingers in every direction but a mirror”, has left this nation’s economic engines on a tail-spin that has no sign of stabilization any time soon.
The mistrust generated by a banking system, that has no identifiable internal or external control over the immoral and criminal activities by its CEO or board of “mis-direstors.,has all but completely undermined any form of confidence Wall St. needs to place in political legislature. This leaves the financial future of our Nation in great peril and uncertainty.
The problem today is not on Wall ST. nor is it in Washington D.C It is in the “far-too-trusting” demeanor of the apathetic American citizen who thinks that the US economy is based upon the “good intentions of banks and their management skills and special interest groups and their groupies. the politician.”
The average American thinks so below average that they have COME TO ACCEPT THE CRIMINAL BEHAVIOR OF POLITICANS, WHO WHILE LEGISLATING THAT OUR TAX REVENUE TO BE USED TO “BAIL OUT FAILURE AFTER FAILURE OF BUSINESSES, THAT HAVE ALL BUT DECIMATED THE HOUSING , INDUSTRIAL, AND BANKING SECTORS OF OUR ECONOMY.
I call this grotesque example of human behavior “THE ACCOUTABLILTY GAME!
One entity, the Presidential administration (both former and now NEW and “brimming with hope” current collection of non taxpaying cabinet members), has no desire to be forthcoming and open as to the intentions of their deeds.
This is only further expedited by the inexplicable and detached nature of the American taxpayer who refuses to believe they are NOT BE REPRESENTED AS PROMISED.
There is one refreshing thought however, that there are people like you and I still around who refuse to accept mediocrity as template for accomplishment. I am not sure if it’s going to be enough but I still have fight left in me.
I will not allow my perspective to be placed in a portfolio, bank file, or subsequent over-taxation of the former!
That is why I volunteer, that is why I am active, because that is the American Way!
The way it all got started!
Peace..

I agree and hope that the pendulum will swing back the other way. I was just in the Philippines and came back saying: “Even with all of our problems there is no where else I’d rather live than in the USA.”
