This is one of those “should I say something” moments.
spy picture taken from across the street
There is a church nearby that has a small preschool. They are letting the children play on the front lawn near a very busy street. It scares the heck out of me. Should I say something? To whom? I don’t know these people at all.
What would you do?

I have never observed you having lack of boldness in meeting people. Your curiosity could, in this situation, outweigh your opinion, and help you approach the situation in an inquisitivie way. Why do they think it is safe to allow the kids to play there? Maybe they have never thought about it – and your questions might help them think, before a child getting hurt makes them think in hindsight…….
As I said in person, I think you would not be able to live with yourself if something happened to a child at the preschool and therefore you should say something. I see no downside as you are expressing a concern for the children, are not filing a lawsuit or threatening the school or preschool, and are not an “interested party” with a hidden agenda. It is simply sincere concern.
As the other respondent said, it can be done in a friendly manner. I would go first to the management of the church and voice your observation and concern. I also agree it is quit possible no one simply thoought of it before – though I do wonder about the parents of the kids…

I believe you have a moral obligation to voice at least an opinion on the matter. The parents of those children may thank you one day.
Thanks all for your responses. Unfortunately if I warn them, which I am inclined to do, and they grudgingly listen I’m likely to be blamed for the loss of a freedom. Lives saved are only credited when the effect is direct. I will go and see them the next time they are outside and then at least I won’t feel guilty if the worst case occurs.

Instead of hiding behind closed doors and taking secret picturs like some amateur detective, why did’nt you just walk across the street and ask what was going on, instead of making accusations which have no truth in them. First off the preschool does not use the equipment in your picture. Second the equipment is used by one of the ministries,of the church, and there are three adults present when the children are using the equipment. That totals 3 adults to 5 children. Your picture was most likely taken before the children came out at 10:30 a.m. or after they went back in at 11:00 a.m. as you show no children or adults in the picture. The equipment is set out at 9:30 a.m. by the custodial staff and taken back in by 12:30 p.m. by the custodial staff. You also failed to mention that several of the people who live in the community also allow their children to use that same equipment. I would get the facts before making broad statements which have a minimum of credability.
