Prison Memoirs of an Anarchist
by Alexander Berkman
It is rare that a literate man is sent to prison for a long time and survives to write about it. I read this memoir to better understand the effect of long term incarceration. It is well written and at times compelling but times are different and I’m not sure if it is still relevant.I learned a lot so I’m giving it a seven on the Simon Scale with a caveat that you have to be interested in the nineteenth century prison experience.
