The Federal Government has four million employees and they along with millions more at the state and local level form an interest group that puts itself first.The figure of 4,000,000 comes from Michael Lewis’s new book. It is profoundly troubling to me that there is almost nothing that can be done to shrink the size of the state. According to the group every job in this labyrinth is important because every mission is important since the goal is to make everyone safe, secure and full of hope. Maybe it is working. But it is making me uneasy.
