Fry Bread of the World

  • Donuts
  • Beignets
  • Sopapillas
  • Funnel Cake
  • Navaho Bread
  • Apple Fritters

Are all fried breads.  There are others.  The idea would be to have a store called Fry Bread of the World.  Kind of an upscale creative donut shop that charges a lot but had exceptionally good treats.  It is making my mouth water just thinking about it.

I know your saying “but they are so bad for you” and I agree but so is TV and driving.  It is not just the poison its also the dose.  All things in moderation.

It would have to be in a tourist area but could be off the track (lower rent) and be promoted as a destination dessert place.  Better than Coldstone, more creative, more expensive and with higher margins.

Lillian took us to Liberty Station in San Diego last week.  It is the right kind of place for this idea to work.  It is the old Naval training Facility turned into a multi use development.  It preserves the old mission style architecture and has plenty of parking.  It is trendy but not overcrowded.  We ate at a place started by some friends of hers called Tender Greens which I would highly recommend.  I had the chinese chicken salad and Nurit had a Brandt Beef sandwich.  Excellent.

Life is Good!

  1. Good idea! Had to comment on this because my husband and I have often had a similar speculation, except about deep-fried savory treats from around the world like samosas, pierogies, egg rolls, falafels, etc., all in the same small restaurant or stand in a tourist area. Seems like either idea would sell if done right!
