Some of the best ideas are the simplest.   Mothers Day is one of the biggest restaurant days of the year and it could be even bigger.  All the restaurant business has to do is start calling it “Mothers Weekend” instead of Mothers Day.  All of a sudden you have three days of waiting lists instead of just one.

Legislatures could help by passing proclamations.  For the first few years until it caught on restauranteurs could offer Mothers Weekend incentives to come in on Friday or Saturday.  But it won’t take much work.  After this works we need to start on making Valentines Day a Valentines Week and Christmas needs to be two weeks from about the 20th of December until January 2nd.

But first Mother Weekend and now is the time to get going on this year.  Mothers Day is May 11, 2014 but Mothers Weekend is May 9 to 11, 2014.  It’s better for Moms and better for the restaurant business.
