The electric toothbrush was a great improvement in dental hygiene. When they were able to make it battery operated it became much cheaper and much more convenient. As a result oral hygiene improved and I assume the number of dental problems decreased. This invention applies the same logic to flossing. Flossing was invented in my lifetime as a way to clean between your teeth and keep your gums healthy. Most people who floss, I wonder what percentage really do, still just use the piece of fancy string. But some use the Reach Tool.
What if something like the Reach were motorized so that the floss string moved. Dental hygiene would improve again and the brilliant person who brought it to market would make a small fortune.
It would of course be available at the Dental Specialty Store invented on this blog a few months ago.

Simon,
Too late, I bought one (a Panosonic) over 10 years ago. I think both Oral B and Water Pic also make one.

Good news. Does the floss move side to side or back and forth? I’m just looking for new applications for the small dependable battery driven motors.
Did you see the idea for a dental supply specialty store?
