Bellflower Public Art

Michael S. and I went down to Bellflower and Santa Fe Springs on Sunday morning to look at some public art.  Michael is an expert on the public art in LA and an excellent adventure companion.  It was sunny in Pasadena so I extrapolated twenty miles to sunny in Bellflower but was wrong.  Even with the overcast the “Invitation/Decalogue” in Bellflower was pretty impressive.

It is not clear what the circle of golden fiberglass tusks are supposed to represent but they looked cool and kind of hengy

The installation will be at the corner of Bellflower Blvd. and the railway tracks until November.  This more traditional bronze is a permanent installation at the old train station nearby:

Tomorrow public art in Santa Fe Springs.  A surprising collection.

  1. Fortunately they are always the same number. Lobster claws is closer. Had a very reptilian feel.

The jaw bone of an ass?
