I highly recommend this book and will be quoting it extensively over the next few months. I will try to curb my enthusiasm and limit myself to one quote per week.
The photo is of one of the horses we encountered near the lodge at Canyon de Chelly. Our guide explained that the Park Service called them “trespassing horses” so that they didn’t get protected like wild horses. Hence the half starved condition of this horse. Life is complicated.
