Colorado Public Art

On our trip to Colorado last month one of the things we went looking for was public art.  We saw some very nice pieces in Grand Junction

If you want to see more,  I have built a small slide show on Flickr. Our interest in public art grew from a combination of several factors: it is free, mostly outdoors and accessible.  A few years ago we went on a guided tour of downtown LA public art with Michael Several.

It was a magnificent tour with a great guide and perfect weather.  Public art tends to be in nice places and some towns print booklets about it.  As an added bonus Grand Junction makes the “Bronze Buddha” claim to have “the largest display of public sculptures in the USA.”

Tomorrow what is a Bronze Buddha?
