Noun: A record of ownership of a work of art or an antique, used as a guide to authenticity. Also the place of origin or the earliest known history of something.

Example: “The provenance of many early maps is questionable.”

  1. Its a little know fact that when they named Providence RI they accidentally misspelled it. I am pretty certain of this (although I may be wrong)
