Words Seldom Seen: Bon mot

Bon Mot

Noun: A witty remark.

Example: “He sought to have a bon mot for every occasion.”

Pronunciation: This is a French phrase that literally translates as “good word” and is pronounced like many french words without most of the last letters. /ˌbän ˈmō/ Bo as in boy without the y and mo like in mother without the ther.

Photo is of Ranger Mark doing a re-enactment of Lewis or Clark shooting a muzzle loading weapon. I have video available on request.

One final word about bon mot. I have pretty much given up trying to change peoples minds with brilliant arguments, now i just try for a bon mot that is clever but not too sarcastic. I seek wit over wisdom.
