Desert has bad connotations. The word “desert” makes one think about a dry, sterile environment. It needs to be changed. Start talking about the Cactus Forest never say the D word. Mesquite Forests and Saguaro Forests are types of Cactus Forest. There could be a grove of teddy bear cacti or a stand of Ocotillo.
