Petroglyph
Noun: A petroglyph is rock art created by early men. Using hand held tools they removed part of the stone surface leaving patterns and images. Petroglyph is commonly used in the American Southwest, in other part of the world it is called engraving.
Example: The Big Horn Sheep petroglyph in Waterfall Canyon was similar to the one at Deer Valley. Photo credit taken with my iPhone 7S.
