You know all of those compliance emails you’ve been getting. They are about GPDR which stands for General Data Protection Regulation. It is a new EU law that protects peoples personal data. Anyone who has a website that is read by someone in the EU is subject to this law. I’m going rogue. What am I going to do? Simple: If you live in the EU and are reading this leave this site immediately and never come back. There are already too many laws in the USA why would I want to comply with a law from the EU (which might be an abbreviation for “Phew”)
Seriously why should a group of bureaucrats who weren’t selected by me be able to take hours of my time to try and get compliant with a law that shouldn’t apply to me.
This kind of complification is a boon to big companies and institutions but is another nail in the coffin of small, creative and marginal enterprises.
People don’t have to come to simonburrow.com and they certainly don’t have to give me their personal data if they do. I don’t intend to spend any time or money trying to comply with this kind of bureaucratic nonsense.
Leave me alone you EUarians.
