eBooks as a Collectible

Is it possible to have rare and collectible books in the age of Kindle and eBooks?

eBooks have come to dominate the book market and fewer hard cover books are being sold. A secondary effect is that book collecting has decreased. There are no first editions of eBooks.

A possible solution is to use block chain technology (like BitCoin) to create signed limited edition eBooks. A new digital collectible. Publishers could sell them as a pre-release higher priced edition.

Whether there would be a secondary market is an open question. But it is possible to try for not a lot of money. All it would take is a name author, a risk taking publisher and an entrepreneur.
