When I was about 40 my wife took me out to buy a new watch. This was before smart phones made them obsolete. We had had a good year so I was looking at Omegas and Seikos. She showed me one she liked the look of and I said “it’s nice but I want to have a secondhand.”

She replied: “It does have a second hand.”

and that’s when I knew I needed reading glasses.
