Self driving cars won’t happen all at once. Nobody is suddenly going to make a self driving car that has complete ability to operate. Not Google, Apple or anyone else. Self driving cars will happen with small incremental evolutionary changes that society can adjust to. In fact it is already happening.
Cruise control became common in the 1990’s
Back up cameras started in the 2000’s and proximity alerts became available in the 2010’s
My Lexus has a back up camera and proximity alarms on the front and the back.
Some cars now come with automatic braking systems and lane drift alerts.
Yesterday I heard that new a Subaru comes with cruise control that will keep you three car lengths behind the car in front. Convoy to Las Vegas anyone?
Self driving cars will happen. But they will happen over a few decades in small increments the same way that most progress happens.Note the change that happen here.
